He served in the U.S. Army during WWII overseas in the European Theater of Operations as a Scout Sergeant from March 1943 - December 1946. He married Ann Marie Mihelchuk in Germany, divorced. He then married Miriam (Kruse) Shunk in 1976 in St. Louis, Missouri. Fritz worked overseas several years in construction and installation of communications equipment until he retired due to injuries received in a helicopter accident in Peru. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartman Post #84 American Legion, Life Member of the V.F.W. #3704, and the Eagles Club.
