IN MEMORIAM,

Matthew A. Godek, 47, of Berlin, Ct. died unexpectedly Monday July 23, 2012 at home.

Matt was born in New Britain, Ct. and was the son of the late Edward and Florence Godek.

He worked as a Mailman for the Plainville Post Office for twenty-six years. Matt enjoyed watching NASCAR, an avid fan of both the Miami Dolphins and the New York Yankees, which he witnessed several World Championships over the years. He was also a member of Club 48, New Britain for several years. Matt served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.

Matt is survived by his brother Mark Godek and his companion, Roberta Garrick of New Britain, his two sisters, Claudia Arsinous of Simi Valley, CA, Lori Godek, his aunt Elizabeth Zyla both of New Britain, Ct., his several nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Melissa Garrick of Boston, MA , Joey, David and Sara Arsinous of Simi Valley, CA and his pride and joy, who Uncle Matt loved to spend time with, Kiernan Weed of New Britain, Ct., his three cousins Jack Kosloski and Gary Zyla, both of New Britain, Ct., Nancy Wiseman of Walpole, MA and several friends.

Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker / Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, Ct. Friday July 27, 2012 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Directions to funeral home: I-84 East or West – Exit 37 (Fienemann Road) right off exit – one mile down on right.

The American Flag will be presented to his nephew, Kiernan.

The burial of Mr. Godek's urn will be private and at the convenience of the family in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
