Luetta Nunnenkamp

Luetta Nunnenkamp, daughter of Dietrich and Elizabeth (Ott) Bergen, was born in York County, NE on January 24, 1928 on a farm near Henderson. Following four years of battling cancer, she passed away on July 26, 2012 at the Henderson Care Center at the age of 84 years, six months and two days.

As a young girl, Luetta realized her need of Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She placed her faith in Jesus Christ and trusted Him for salvation. She was baptized at the Bethesda Church in Henderson May 20, 1945. As a young teenage girl she attended tent meetings in Henderson with her parents and siblings. At one particular tent meeting she yielded her life to Christ and knew at this time she was now His child. Luetta went to country school in York County and graduated from Henderson High School in 1946. After High School she worked at the hatchery, the local grocery store, different cafes, and eventually retired from Dart Custom Imprinting.

On June 1, 1948, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Nunnenkamp in the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. To this union, one daughter and four sons were born. Luetta did a lot of work on the farm. She always had a large garden, did a lot of baking and helping in the field. After LeRoy passed away, "mother" spent several lonely years on the farm before moving into Henderson in April of 1985. She kept on working in the nursing home until April of 1987 when she started working at Dart Custom Imprinting. She worked there until her retirement and was always glad to return to help out whenever she was needed.

Luetta will be missed greatly by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as many family and friends. Many fond memories of her will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy on November 27, 1977; parents Dietrich & Elizabeth (Ott) Bergen; parents-in-law; 11 brothers and sisters-in-law, and 15 brothers and sisters.

Luetta is survived by one daughter, Shirley Kliewer of Sutton, NE; four sons: Roy and Jackie, Gary and Joyce, Gale and Joyce all of Henderson and Alan and Kim of rural Aurora, NE; 13 grandchildren: Matt and Chanda, Mark, Melissa and Aaron, Shanna, Andrew and Sarah, Trevor and Anna, Tyler and Stacey, Jonathan and Nicole, Jennifer and Eric, Jason and Danielle, Chelsea, Casey and Jeremiah; two step-grandchildren, Shelby and Colby; great grandchildren, Christopher, MacKenzie, Landon, Braden, Brianna, Braxton, Madilyn, Emily, Wyatt, and Barrett.
