MITCHELL - Billie "June" Cartwright Lunsford, 83, formerly of Morrill, left the arms of her daughters and went to be with her Heavenly Father Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Mitchell Care Center.
June was born June 26, 1929, in Evansville, Ark., to Jacob and Margaret Baker Cartwright. She loved music and played saxophone in the band at Collinsville High School where she graduated in 1947. On March 12, 1948, June married H.S. "Bill" Lunsford in Nowata, Okla., and they had three daughters: Conni, Candace, and Cathy. After graduating Bartlesville (Oklahoma) Business College, June worked in several positions over the next 40 plus years. Her experience included being a receptionist, executive secretary, executive assistant to company presidents, sales for an electronics firm, which allowed her to travel to shows in different states, and working for the Village of Morrill.
June loved her Lord, family, friends, books, flower gardens, Rook club, her cat "Sugar," and the Denver Nuggets!
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Conni Anglin (Dennis) Ostendorf of Morrill, Candace (Tom) Hart of Shadyside, Ohio, and Cathy (Richard) McNees of Bothell, Wash.; grandchildren, Chris (Dede) Anglin and children, Stephen, Mattie and Chance of Sidney, Whitne (Terry) Lofink and children, Beau, Braden and Blake of Scottsbluff, Jeff (Kim) Hart and daughter, Katelyn of Shadyside, Ohio, Kelli (Mark Diehl) McNees and children, Sidney and Kameron of The Woodlands, Texas, Erin (Bryan) Groves and daughter, Grace of Marysville, Ohio, Amber (Jeff) Gardner of Spring, Texas, and Lynsey (Calvin) Palian and children, Fisher, Anderson, Sawyer, and Maguire of Bellaire, Ohio. June was looking forward to the birth of her 15th great-grandchild and her first great-great grandchild later this year. Survivors also include her sister-in-law, Jane Cartwright; nieces, Verda Riehart, Janie Murrell, Arilla Karlak, and Rhonda Paul; nephews, Larry Menser and Billy Cartwright; and very special friends, Dick and Anita Duncan, Jimmy Hinkson, and Norma Ausmus.
Preceding June in death were her parents; brothers, Selvia, Dess, and Bill; sisters, Inez Wode, Verda Menser, and Ruby Riehart; and her special nephew, Reverend Harold Rhoads.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, at the Morrill United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Reisig officiating. Cremation has taken place in accordance with June's wishes.Inurnment will take place at a later date at Ridge Lawn Cemetery in Collinsville, Okla. The Jones Mortuary of Mitchell is assisting the family.
