Mrs. Mittelstadt was born on January 11, 1927, to Christian Fredrick William Carl and Olga (Martin) Knittel. She was educated in Lodi and graduated from Lodi High School. Mrs. Mittelstadt worked at Catalina Sportswear as a garment inspector until 1992. She then went to work at Florin Box and Lumber Company as a custom gift box assembler, retiring in 2001. She attended Emanuel Lutheran Church. She loved to play bingo and spend time with her family. Every Friday she started her day at her hairdresser, Lois, then had lunch with her siblings, and ended her day at St. Anne's, playing bingo.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Mittelstadt and Sharon Robertson, both of Galt; two sons, Rex Mittelstadt, Jr., and Dale Mittelstadt, also of Galt; six grandchildren, Jason, Kris, Matthew, Kari, Kim and Shana; six great-grandchildren, Renee, Alexis, Brenden and twins, Kris and Jessica and Alyssa; four sisters, Esther Daetweiler, Irene Hendergart, Marjorie Nichols, and Darlene "Babe" Hessler; one brother, Gerald Knittel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex O. Mittelstadt in 1975; sister, Frieda Matties and brother, George Knittel.
Friends are invited to visit Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home.
A Chapel service will be held on Friday, February 27th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Committal will immediately follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.
