Gary J. Schwalbe, age 56, of 637 S. 32nd St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly
Saturday morning, December 6, 1997, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center,
Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 1997 at Bethany
Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Bruce McKenney and Rev Robert Kupawski will
officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born August 16, 1941, in Manitowoc, son of Kermit Schwalbe and the late
Laura Wiegert Schwalbe. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959. Gary
served with the United States Army Reserves Red Arrow Division and was called
to active duty. After returning to Manitowoc he became employed with Manitowoc
Cranes, Inc. where he presently held the position as supervisor of stores,
shipping, receiving and traffic. Gary had been employed with Manitowoc Cranes,
Inc. for over 37 years. He married Bernice Lubus on October 26, 1967, at First
German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. He was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran
Church, the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 and the Disabled American
Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; one son, Jason Schwalbe, Manitowoc; his father,
Kermit Schwalbe, Manitowoc; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Wayne Avery,
Milwaukee; two nephews, Glenn (Michele) Avery, Scott Avery; his mother-in-law,
Marge Lubus, Oconto, Wis.; three sisters-in-law, Audrey (Edward) Wegner, Cleveland,
Wis., Elaine Smith, Indianapolis, Ind., Carol (Dan) Zachek, Two Rivers; two
brothers-in-law, Roger (Ruth) Lubus, Zealand, Mich.; Dan (Donna) Lubus, Oconto,
Wis.; other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his
mother, Laura in 1985, and his father-in-law, Ervin Lubus in 1991.
Friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5-8 pm.
Monday (TONIGHT), and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of
service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church.
