Angela Gail Varney, 19, of Lynco, WV, departed this life on Thursday, August 9, 2012, in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born September 23, 1992, to parents Gayle and Norma Varney. She was their precious "Smiley Face" and "Angel." She was the light and love of her parents' life. She was always smiling and full of joy. She had one dear sister, Elizabeth Varney Gibson.

She was a graduate of Westside High School and was attending Concord University where she was excelling and majoring in English Literature. She was working with CU professor O'Haynes on research on her favorite poet, Edgar Allen Poe, for publication. "The Conqueror Worm" was her favorite poem and she also often quoted "The Raven." She worked at GameStop in the Mercer Mall. She had dozens of online friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially playing video games with her favorite nephew Austin, and she enjoyed spending time with her caring boyfriend, William Rookstool III. She loved movies, games, comics and she went to the opening night showing of the new Batman movie on her last date with Will. She was a band member for three years in middle school and all four years of high school playing tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet, guitar, piano, tuba, and oboe. Other things that she enjoyed were riding her four-wheeler and taking pictures of everything around her. In years past she faithfully attended Clear Fork Valley Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ at VBS. She was a light in the lives of the many people who loved her and she will be greatly missed.

Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents Ballard and Alline Varney; uncles Freddy Sellards, Bobby Varney, and Randy Varney; aunts Patsy Vint and Lula Belle Varney.

Those left to cherish her memories include her parents Gayle and Norma Varney of Lynco; maternal grandmother Goldie Sellards of Matheny, WV; a sister Elizabeth "Beth" and her husband Jessie Gibson, Jr., of Lynco, WV; a niece Brittany Gibson and a nephew Austin Gibson both of Lynco, WV; her boyfriend William Rookstool, III, of Bluefield, VA; uncles Roger Varney, David Varney, Randy Sellards, James Sellards, Charlie (Gina) Sellards, and William Sellards; aunts Lucille Varney, Beatrice Varney (Bruce) Lamb, Carolyn (Ronnie) Coleman, and Mary (John) Dunlap, and a host of cousins, including a special cousin Michael Dunlap of TX.

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort." II Cor. 1:3.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2012, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with Rev. Valdis Bailey, Rev. William Cook and Rev. Erwin Gregory officiating. Angela will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may call from noon until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be William Rookstool III, Jessie Gibson, Jessie Gibson, Jr., Michael Belcher, Randy Sellards and Charlie Sellards.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bruce and Beatrice Lamb for their love and support during this difficult time.
