Martha A. Bray, 99, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, November 20, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.
She was born September 24, 1904 in Magnolia Township, the daughter of August C. and Bertha Klatt Thom. Martha married Walter J. Bloedel on January 3, 1923 in Antigo, WI. He predeceased her in August of 1944. She then married Elmer Doherty on March 3, 1951 in Dubuque, IA. He predeceased her in June of 1955. Martha later married Chester Bray on October 2, 1965 in Beloit, WI. He predeceased her in May 1978.
Martha was employed by Mercy Hospital in Janesville, WI and for Mr. & Mrs. E.H. Neese, retiring in 1967. She was a member of Wm. J. Huemphner Auxiliary, Barracks 2564, YMCA Senior Citizens Club, and Grinnell Hall. Martha was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Church.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Betty) Bloedel of Janesville, WI and Ruth (John) Kannengeiser of Beloit, WI; three grandchildren, Susan (Matt) Klein of Arizona, Cheryl (Gregory) Richter of Pewaukee, WI, and Sandra (Joseph) Sagona of Beloit, WI; three great grandchildren, Jeremy Sagona, Benjamin Sagona and Joshua Sagona all of Beloit, WI.
She was predeceased by her parents, daughter, Marcella June Bloedel, siblings, Frank Thom, Lena Bienash and Hattie Hackbarth.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2003 in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Mark B.Yates officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Center Cemetery, Janesville, WI with a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.
