SCHUURMANS_ John (Johannes) Franke Schuurmans, born November 9, 1929 in Mantgum, Friesland, Holland, passed away suddenly on January 1, 2005. He died doing what he loved, helping out on the farm. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Dorothy and children Dr. Nan Schuurmans (Callahan), Richard, and Deborah Schuurmans (Wykes) and his grandchildren Katy, Tess and Thomas Callahan, Callen and Jazmine Wykes. He was a wonderful husband and father, and a steadfast and helpful friend and neighbour. He was predeceased by his parents Neltje and Franke Schuurmans; sister Anke; and brother Klaas. He is survived by his sister Wyp Nguyen; brother Hank (Jeltze) Schuurmans in Holland; sister Renny (Carlos) Aggio in Australia; brothers, Walter (Mary), Rudmer (Anne) in Edmonton; sister-in-law Aaltje Schuurmans in Regina and their families. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue with Rev. Donald E. L. Wells officiating. In lieu of flowers, please give donations to the Dr. Paul Schwann Centre for Heart Rehabilitation, c/o University of Regina or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 2360 2nd Avenue, Regina S4R 1A6.
