Benton H. Boeck was born on a farm in East Boyer Township, Crawford County, Iowa April 6, 1901 the son of Herman and Millie Blunk Boeck. He was raised on the family farm and attended the local rural schools near his home. After his education he helped on the family farm.
On Sept 19, 1923 Benton was united in marriage with Lillie Voss at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison,Iowa. To this union four children were born, Virgil, Russell,Gaylord and Bonnie. They made their home on farms southeast of Denison. In 1966 they retired and moved to their home they built at the south edge of Denison where he had since resided.
Following his retirement, Ben continued to have an active interest in farming and his horses. Benton suffered a stroke in October of 1983 and had been in poor health since that time. He died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Jan 25 1984. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 82 years, 9 months and 19 days. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.
Benton was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ralph Boeck.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Boeck of Denison, four children, Virgil Boeck of Denison,Russell Boeck of Denison,Gaylord Boeck of rural Ida Grove, and Bonnie, Mrs. Virgil Ewoldt of Fort Wayne, Ind., 20 grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, three brothers, Oliver C. 'Ike' Boeck of Denison, Alfred 'Jack' Boeck of Manilla, Robert 'Bob' Boeck of rural Denison, and one sister Helen, Mrs. Sam Kracht of Denison. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30, Jan 28, 1984 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Dennis Boeck,Larry Boeck, Dwight Boeck, Terry Boeck,Tom Boeck,Tim Boeck,Kevin Boeck,Dale Boeck,Michael Boeck,Mark Boeck,Alan Boeck,Curtis Boeck,and Gary Boeck. Internment was in the Crawford Height Memory Gardens in Denison. The Pfannebecker-Maxwell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
