Born in Akron, Bob was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He began his career at METRO Regional Transit Authority in 1974 as an Operator and served for 38 years, finishing as executive director, a position he had held since 1995. Bob was instrumental in helping METRO go county-wide, introducing Sunday service, kicking off service to and from Cleveland, and the 2009 opening of the Transit Center in downtown Akron. In May 2012, this transit facility was named the Robert K. Pfaff Transit Center.
He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Diller (Shawn), Virginia Pfaff, Jill Pfaff and Stefanie Pfaff (Leslie); grandchildren, Denim Diller, Ariana Thorn, Darien and Gavin Filipowicz; brothers, Jack (Betty) and Barry (Carol) Pfaff; many close friends and colleagues.
