John Theodore Knagge, according to his daughter Hilda Ella Knagge, was both a "tinner" (an owner of a machine shop), and a gentleman farmer. His business was probably located near his home on Vine Street in the heart of old Cincinatti. For a time, the family had lived in Dillsboro, Dearborn County, Indiana, and it may have been there that John engaged in farming. He may have moved to Dillsboro so his wife Ella, who died of cancer in 1902, could be near her family. To my knowledge, she had two brothers in Dillsboro: William, and Martin Wood.
