Virgil Leon Stock, 88, died August 28, 2012 at the Frankfort Community Care Home.

Virgil was born June 4, 1924 near Home, the son of Wilhelm "Bill" and Edna (Guise) Stock. He farmed and raised livestock up until 2005, when he entered the care home due to a stroke.

Known for his friendly, outgoing manner, he enjoyed playing cards, homemade ice cream and his family. He was a private in the Army and received a medical discharge in 1945.

He was united in marriage to Marguerite Ruth Dalrymple on March 14, 1945 in Hiawatha.

Surviving him is his son, Robert (Karen) Stock of Marysville; daughter, Debbie (Wilbur) Johnson of Home; sister, Eileen Bridemeus (Bredemeier)of Pawnee City; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife in 2010; daughter Connie Sue in 1956; and sister, Carol Dalrymple.

A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 1, at the First Christian Church in Marysville. Burial will be in Home City Cemetery.
