The funeral service for retired maintenance company worker Billy Ray Puckett of Puryear will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Steve Gallimore will officiate. Burial will follow in Birds Creek Cemetery near Whitlock.

Selected as pallbearers are Michael, Shawn, Kelly and Garrett Puckett, Brian Tusa and Kevin Van Dyke.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Greer, Max Middleton and Larry Baucum.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday.

Puckett, 86, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Henry County Medical Center.

His wife, Mary Alice Worley Puckett, survives. The two were married on April 26, 1947.

Born Oct. 13, 1925, in Elbridge, he was the son of the late Garrett and Dannie Huffstutter Puckett.

Puckett was a member of the church of Christ and a U.S. Army veteran. He retired in maintenance from Detex Corp. in New Braunfels, Texas.

He also leaves three sons: George (Lorraine) Puckett of Springville, Scotty Puckett of Cary, Ill., and Kelly (Dale) Puckett of Ridgely; one daughter: Theresa Puckett and friend Linda Somerow of Roswell, N.M.; a former daughter-in-law: Linda Urvwink of Wisconsin;

Six grandchildren: Garrett Puckett and fiancee Bryn Sherry of Cary, Ill., Shawn (Amanda) Puckett, Michael (Stacia) Puckett and Kelly Dale (Mary Beth) Puckett, all of Paris, Tracey (Shane) Herrmann of Trimble and Lee Ann (Frankie) Carroll of Newbern; nine great-grandchildren; and special friends: Maureen Mathes and her family, Sandra Knepper, Nancy Putman and Thomas Mathes.

A sister, Margaret VanDyke, preceded her in death.
