"Donna M. Mahrenholz, 70, of Westport, Il passed away Thursday March 17, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born in Westport to the late Alvin and Anna Mae (Siegle) Mahrenholz. Donna graduated from Lawrenceville High School in the class of 1958 and received her RN degree from Johns Hopkins University. She went on to get her B.S. degree from Case Western University and then went to the Panama Canal Zone where she was a registered nurse for 10 years. Donna returned stateside and went to work for Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miama, FL. She then returned to her schooling and received her PHD from the University of Maryland and began her teaching career at Yale University. She attended St. John's Lutheran Church and was a member of the Gadfly Book Club.Donna is survived by her sister, Helen (Peter) Haley of Monticello, FL, a brother, Norman Mahrenholz of Westport, a niece, Diana (Brett) Robling of Westport and a great niece, Kari Robling. She was preceeded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Ann Mahrenholz and a nephew, Tim Mahrenholz.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 21, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home 505 Main Street with the Rev. Ron Maxwell officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the Mahrenholz family plot in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit and share memories of Donna with the family on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Education Fund in Donna's memory.
