Final rites were conducted at First Christian Church Monday afternoon for Florian Tontz who passed away on December 22. Rev. Louis Ulmer of the Lutheran Church of Guthrie was in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Davis of the Christian Church of Crescent. Music was furnished by Jo Ann Booth, Mr. and Mrs. Booth and Mr. Denny, with Billy Earl Adams as pianist. Paulbearers were grandsons, Leslie Tontz, Billy Gillette, Fred Tontz, Roy Gooch, Lloyd Gooch and Corbett Gooch, Jr. Honorary paulbearers were Dick Blevins, John Ray, Charley Graff, and Frank Graff.

Florian Tontz, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Tontz, was born in Seevis, Switzerland, September 18, 1873, and passed away at his home in Crescent Saturday, December 22 at the age of 78 years, three months, and four days. He came to the United States with his parents in 1886. they settled at Downs, Kansas, where he lived four years. In 1890 Tontz moved to Oklahoma. He was married to Rose Fleutsch Jan. 31, 1900. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and 10 children; one son, Ben Tontz, preceding him in death; 32 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Children are Minnie Gooch, Delaware; Anna Dodd and Alma Rhoads of Crescent; Florine Tontz, Yale; Helen Gillette, Esther Helton, Louise Bross, Johnnie Tontz, Leonard Tontz, Elmer Tontz, all of Guthrie; also three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Beery, Mrs. Stella Brouchoud, and Mrs. Maggie Sanderson; one brother, John preceded him in death.
