David Wilfred Winkler passed away on September 3, 2012 at his home. A Brooklyn, New York native, born May 20, 1925, who proudly served in the US Navy as a Lt. Junior Grade. Following his service, he moved to Dalton, GA, in 1946 where he was Vice-President of Manufacturing at Belcraft Chenilles and Textiles and later Noxon Carpets. In 1968, he became a stockbroker for J.C. Bradford, then Hillyard-Lyons until he moved to Baton Rouge in 2007, when he joined Morgan Stanley, until he retired in August of 2012. He served the community of Dalton on numerous Boards for the Community Chest (United Way), Hardwick Bank and Trust, as a Westcott Fellow of Hamilton Medical Center, Temple Beth-El and he also served as a City Councilman.

David was preceded in death, by his parents, Louis and Sarah Winkler, his bother-in-laws, Chester Bonder, Al Goldstein, Monty Weil, Dr. Jack Tepper, Dr. Bernard Tepper, Louis Tepper and sister-in-law, Sara Zitcer.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Margaret Tepper Winkler, son, Steven and his wife, Monica Nijoka and three grandchildren, Megan, Sara and Alyssa, sisters, Regina Goldstein, Muriel Bonder, sister-in-laws, Martell Weil and Bea Tepper and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thanks to Dr.'s Harold Brandt, Gerald Miletello and Vince Cataldo for the excellent care they provided during this difficult time.

Graveside services were held at Liberal Cemetery.
