Thomas "Tom" Frederick Borbonus, 72, a 15-year resident of St. Leonard in Calvert County and previously of Deale, died June 3 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Born in Pittsburgh, Mr. Borbonus attended Calvert County Community College. He served in the Air Force in the Strategic Air Command during the Korean War.
He retired in 1987 from the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration, where he worked for many years as an engineer.
Subsequently he was a drug and alcohol counselor for Courage To Change in Prince Frederick.
A member of Alcoholic Anonymous for 22 years, he enjoyed writing and painting.
He was the brother of the late Francis J. Borbonus Jr. and Anna Mae Krause.
Surviving are three sons, Michael Borbonus of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Sean Borbonus of Upper Marlboro and Kevin Borbonus of Washington, D.C.; three daughters, Michelle Berard and Jeannine Martin, both of Edgewater, and Denise Brensinger of Brandywine; one sister, Betty Boyer of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
On Thursday, June 3, 2004. The beloved father of Michelle Berard, Denise Brensinger, Jeannine Martin, Michael, Sean and Kevin Borbonus; brother of Betty Boyer and the late Francis J. Borbonus, Jr. and Anna Mae Krause. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and four great-grand- children. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 11, 10 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Huntingtown, MD. Inurnment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA at a later date.
