Iona Rubie Jewett, 79, formerly of Marysville Township, Wright County, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at the Anoka Care Center.
She was born on June 15, 1925 in Marysville Township the daughter of Henry A. and Rose Lambert Jewett.
As a young girl, Iona helped on the family farm. She also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
When Iona was sixteen years old she was in an auto accident in Marysville Township, near her home, and has been confined to nursing homes for more then past sixty years.
Survived by brothers and sisters Vernon "Sonny" (Carol) Jewett of Waverly, Totten Jewett of Buffalo, Daisy Russ of Las Vegas, Nevada and Dollrus "Dolly" Grangroth of Waverly; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her parents; a sister Veretta Jewett; a brother Wesley Jewett; brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law Milton Russ, Joyce Jewett and Howard Grangroth and by a niece Rose Mosch.
Funeral services for Iona Jewett were held on Thursday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Reverend Myra Carroll-Pezzella officiated and interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.
Marlene Mohwinkel was the organist for the funeral service and Rolf Mohwinkel sang "The Old Rugged Cross."
Casket bearers were Leonard Grangroth, Harlan Grangroth, Stanley Rannow, Alan Jewett, Paul Jewett and Dick Mosch.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
