William D. Reisbig, 71, of Ionia passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012.

He was born on Feb. 27, 1941 in Coopersville, the son of Alexander and Margaret (Bair) Reisbig, of which Alexander and his parents were immigrants from Russia. Their family name is on the wall at Ellis Island.

At age 8, William and his family moved to Ionia where the family farmed on Jefferson Street. In 1962 Bill married the love of his life, Mary Thornton. Together they raised three wonderful children, Steven, Michael and Michelle.

Bill was a very busy man with many accomplishments, among which were, Reisbig Bros. Redi Mix, Ionia Skateland, and Reisbig Construction. He enjoyed the challenge of building a business and seeing it flourish and be successful. However, his most prized accomplishment in life was his family, which meant everything to him.

Bill served as a trustee on the Ionia Township Board. He was a very generous man, supporting many community causes. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and just loved communicating with people.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Michael; sisters, Helen (Chuck) Hammond and Nancy Addingon; brothers, Alexander II and James; and brother-in-laws, Donald Martin, Glen Sterner, Jerry Thornton, and William Thornton.

Surviving are his loving wife, Mary (Thornton) Reisbig; son, Steven (Karen) Reisbig; daughter, Michelle (Juaquin) Sanchez; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, John Reisbig, and Gary (Carole) Reisbig; sisters, Judy (Don) Eighmey, Lea Sterner, Ann Henry, and Mary Martin; sister-in-law, Phyllis Reisbig; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at the Easton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church presiding. Interment will follow at Easton Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich St., Ionia.
