Funeral service for Ida Lillian Hieronimus Surgeon, 94, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service, in Bush River Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church Justice and Mercy Mission, 5637 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
Mrs. Surgeon, resident of Columbia, and formerly of Pratt, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010. She was a daughter of the late John and Lilly Hieronimus. Mrs. Surgeon was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and former member of Old Kanawha Baptist Church. She was also a member and former president of Pratt's Women's Club.
Mrs. Surgeon is survived by her two children; daughter, Nancy Lanham (C.E.) of Columbia and son, John Franklin Surgeon III (Cindy) of Wimauma, FL; daughter-in-law, Arlou Surgeon of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Dr. Steven E. Lanham, Kim Pierce, Dr. Bryan E. Surgeon, Alison Kickler and John F. Surgeon, IV; seven great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, John Franklin Surgeon II, and her son, Edward F. Surgeon.
