Hilner A. Rudloff, age 88, of Mora, Minn., and formerly of Waconia, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at Eastwood Assisted Living in Mora.
Funeral Service held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church (601 2nd Street East) in Waconia with Rev. James Groleau officiating. Visitation was Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waconia.
Hilner Allen Rudloff was born Oct. 29, 1923 in Watertown Twp., Minn., the son of Heinrich and Martha (Vollrath) Rudloff. He was baptized on Nov. 25, 1923 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by Rev. W.F. Schneider and confirmed on May 10, 1938 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by Rev. W.F. Schneider. On May 9, 1944 he was united in marriage with Marvella Finkel at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carver by Rev. Edwin Burdorf.
When Hilner was 16 years old he entered his horse in the state fair and won grand champion which gave him a train ride to Chicago to show his horse. Hilner was a master carpenter and craftsman building and remodeling many homes. He worked at JR Clark and Advanced Machines in Navarre. One of his biggest pleasures was taking his grandchildren on the pontoon for an afternoon of fishing. In his later years he did scroll sawing and built many clocks. Hilner was always willing to sit down and play a hand of cards.
Hilner and Marvella owned their 80 acre farm by Waconia from 1944 to 1966. They raised their four children in a Christian centered home and had membership to Trinity Lutheran Church of Waconia. They moved to Chaska in 1966 until 1975 when they purchased a resort south of Garrison, Minn. They spent their winters in Arizona, working at dude ranches and managing apartments. They sold the resort in 1984, at which time they moved to Aitkin, where they built a new home on the lake. Still going south for the winters with their 5th wheel camper, they had many travels seeing the United States. They sold their house in Aitkin in 1994, and since moved a few times, downsizing as they ended up in the Mora/Hinckley area for the past six years.
Hilner is preceded in death by his wife Marvella, parents Heinrich and Martha Rudloff, sister and brother-in-law Lona and Harvey Radde, sister-in-law Mildred Finkel.
