She met her husband, Hugo, during the fervor of World War II and they married on Dec. 11, 1943. Hugo was then sent to sea for 18 months.
Anne was adventuresome, active and a great lover of her family and life.
She has been preceded in death by her brother, Mario, and sisters, Alberta, Rose and Mary.
Anne is survived by her husband, Hugo; her son, Ted Tholen and wife, Pat, of Fredericksburg, Va., and her daughter, Claudia Pascarella and husband, David, of Bridgewater, Va. She was a grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren, Paul Tholen , Jenny Tholen , Katie Pascarella Mason and Laura Pascarella. She was also stepgrandmother to Carol Anne Dosey of York, Pa. She leaves five great- grandchildren.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harrisonburg and served in the U.S. Navy. Mrs. Tholen retired from the D.C. Courts in 1980.
The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 16, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the home of Hugo and Anne Tholen , 7786 Tall Cedars Lane, Bridgewater.
The viewing is to be held from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at the Blessed Sacrament Church followed by the Mass of the Resurrection conducted by Father Thomas Mattingly at 11:30 a.m. After the Mass, burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Immediately following burial, the family will receive friends and family at the home of Hugo and Anne Tholen .
