Josephine Elizabeth Backes 95, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 1998 at Provena McAuley Manor.

She was born March 6, 1902 in Aurora.

She was a member of Our Lady Of Good Council Church, and the Alter and Rosary/Sanctuary Sodality Group.

She graduated from St. Mary High School and attended Columbia Business College in Aurora.

A lifelong resident of Aurora, Mrs. Backes worked for many years in the accounting department of All Steel until her retirement in 1967.

Survivors include her son Alfred Backes of Aurora, her daughter Marilyn (Bill) Dexter of St. Charles, her grandson Dr. Stephen (JoAnne) Songer of Overland Park, Kansas and three great granddaughters Kathryn, Corinne and Stephanie Songer all of Overland Park, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Adam Backes in 1960, her parents Joseph and Mary (Hoffman) Dietsch, and her brother Rev. C. A. Dietsch.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 7, 1998 at 10 a.m. at the Daleiden High Street Mortuary, to Our Lady of Good Council Church at 10:30 a.m. Father Edward Gillespie will officiate with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. with the Rosary at 4 p.m. at The Daleiden High Street Mortuary, 276 High St., Aurora. 898-8634.

Memorial contributions in Josephine's memory can be made to Our Lady of Good Council Church.
