William Douglas Hatfield, 67 of Hanover, formerly of Gilbert, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 14th, 2012, from his residence. William was a wonderful husband, loving father, and a special grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a retired coal miner and attended the Sharon Heights Assembles. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Born February 6, 1945, at Gilbert, he was the son of the late Aubrey Edward Hatfield (1909-1978) and Icy Pearl Toler-Hatfield (1911-1980). In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Benny R. Hatfield (Deceased) and one sister, Dolly Kathleen Hatfield (Deceased).

Those left to love and cherish the memory of William and to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Waldeen Akers-Hatfield (1946-2019) of Hanover; his son, Jeffrey Douglas Hatfield & wife Christie Hatfield of Hanover; his four daughters, Christi Hatfield-Endicott & husband Mick Endicott, Teresa Hatfield-Smith & husband Donald Smith, Melissa Hatfield-Christian & husband Shane Christian, and Jessica Hatfield, all of Hanover; his brother, Melvin Hatfield & wife Mary Hatfield; his three sisters, Zina Hatfield-Houck & husband Dale Houck, Loretta Hatfield-Mounts & husband Pedro Mounts, and Gail Hatfield-Daddario & husband Steve Daddario; his ten grandchildren, Robert, Micky, Tyler, Donald, Megan, McKenzie, Kiana, Kaitlyn, Shayna, and Corey; his great-grandchild, Isaiah; many nieces, nephews and a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a special service at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arville Cline and Rev. Bill Cresong officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny.
