G. IRENE HALVAX, 97, of Mansfield, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Crestwood Care in Shelby.
Born October 8, 1914 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Arthur and Pauline (Tubbs) Lotz. Irene graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1932. A homemaker, she also worked for numerous downtown businesses. She was an active member of TOPS and enjoyed playing BINGO. An avid reader, Irene loved reading magazines. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, and was an excellent seamstress.
She is survived by her sons, Jay Halvax of Mansfield with whom she made her home with her dog, Merphie and Bill (Pat) Halvax of Redding, California; daughters, JoAnn Windsor of Mansfield and Dorothy Jane (Mike) of Brunswick, Georgia; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, S. William Halvax who died on July 14, 1969; daughter, Janet Henry; and sister, Laurel Jean Sutherly.
