Mrs. Katherine Volz of Friend passed away at Warren Memorial hospital in Friend April 5 at the age of seventy-four. Mrs. Volz was the mother of Mrs. James Barbur. Mrs. Volz was one of the early pioneers southwest of Friend in Fillmore county. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and two sons. Funeral services were held April 9 at the Congregational church in Friend.
