Mavis M. Tacheny died on Tuesday, March 16, 2009 at the University of Minnesota Hospital at the age of 76 years.
She was born on January 4, 1933 in St. Paul to Irving and Ellen (Nelson) Koecher, was baptized, confirmed and married at the Salem Lutheran Church in Oxford Township, Isanti County, Minnesota. After graduating from North Branch High School she moved to St. Paul and worked at State Farm Insurance Company. She married Ronald Tacheny in 1953 and they built a house on a farm near Stacy where they raised their two sons, Tim and Allen Tacheny. She later worked at the Country Care Center in North Branch.
Mavis had great artistic talent painting in oils, acrylics and water colors and also did portraits of children in chalk drawings. She entered art shows and gave lessons in North Branch. She had a wide varity of subjects ranging from scenic woodlands, Historical Buildings, rural churches and schools, wildlife and flowers.

She shared her love of music with the Salem Congregation where she served as organist for over 45 years. She also was president of the L.C.W., she taught Sunday School and provided their music, something she especially enjoyed. Mavis was an avid student of the scripture studying it daily. Her Christian faith sustained her throughout her life.

She will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Tim and Allen (Cristi) Tacheny both of Stacy; grandsons, Nathan and Nick Tacheny, granddaughter, Terrianne; brothers, Ronald (Judy) Koecher and Kenneth (Millie) Koecher both of Stacy; sister, LaVonne (Dennis) Tacheny of Stacy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Ellen Koecher; sister, Mary Vadnais and nephew, John Koecher.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 21, 2009 from St.John's Lutheran Church in Stacy with Rev. Kenneth Marquardt officiating. Music was provided by Cathie Hendren as organist and Jon Ekstrom as soloist. Interment was at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Oxford Township, Isanti County, Minnesota. Serving as casketbearers were Mike Vadnais, Kevin Vadnais, Jim Koecher, Gary Koecher, Trent Tacheny and Paul Tacheny.

Arrangements were under the direciton of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
