Marlene Perrott was born on Oct. 23, 1938, to Aaron and Martha (Beyers) Borland in Pittsburgh, Penn. It was in Pennsylvania that Marlene graduated high school, which she was very proud of. On Jan. 29, 1957, she was united in marriage to Alfred Perrott in Detroit, Mich. To this union, four children were born: Jean, Michael, John, and Sandy.
Marlene and her husband Alfred raised their family in Pennsylvania for several years. Marlene was a homemaker and spent her time taking care of her family. Her children said they always knew where mom was at. She took care of the household while the children were young, and had dinner on the table at 5 p.m. every evening.
As the children grew older, Marlene started working outside of the household. She worked at a laundromat and also did house cleaning. When she wasn't working or taking care of the kids she was volunteering at her children's school. She would help with field trips, her son John's baseball team, and would even substitute teach.
In 1983, Marlene and her family moved to Mason City, where she lived for the past 29 years. She worked at Walmart as a stationary clerk for 14 of those years. She also helped out at New Beginnings Consignment Store for a few years. Marlene was also a member of the Mason City Senior Center.
Marlene loved holidays and special occasions with all of the family and the fall season. She liked to play Bingo and watch the Pittsburgh Steelers. She also enjoyed beanbag tournaments at Cornerstone, shopping trips on the weekends, and going to the casino.
Marlene is survived by her children, Jean (John) Brietzke of Nora Springs, Michael (Wendy) Perrott of Mason City, John (Dawn) Perrott of Sheffield, Sandy and her significant other Sam Hershberger of Mason City; brother, Robert (Margie) Borland; grandchildren, Kristin Brietzke, Sonia Brietzke, Angela Brietzke, Michael Perrott, Cody Perrott, Brandon Perrott, Jeremy Perrott, Samantha Perrott, Jesse Perrott, Shane Uker, Jen Cannon; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jaylyn, Jessica, and Braley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Perrott; parents, Aaron and Martha Borland; brothers, Bill Perrott, Danny Perrott, Joe Perrott and Glen Perrott; sister, Margie Weber; and step-sister, Josephine.
