St. Paul, Minn. – Services for Ruth A. [Hjelmeland] Carlsen, 98, of St. Paul and formerly of Estherville, will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Willwerscheid & Peters Mortuary in St. Paul, Minn. Interment will be in Palestine Cemetery at Dolliver at 2 p.m. Monday. She died Nor. 4, 1998 at Shalom Home East in St. Paul of an apparent stroke.
She was born June 6, 1900, at Aneta, Nelson County, North Dakota, taught elementary school there and at Manley and Estherville many years. She was married to Carl N. Carlsen who along with a son Vernee preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister Agnes Rechtiene, nieces and nephews.
