Duane Lawrence Scott, 64 of Rt. 1, Allison, died Monday morning, Dec. 9 in the office of a Waverly doctor, from an apparent heart attack.
Duane, son of William H. and Lillie Freese Scott, was born June 13, 1921 in Jackson Township of Butler County. He received his education in the rural school near his home.
On Dec. 8, 1945 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Gisler at The Little Brown Church of Nashua. They established their home in Waverly. The couple lived there for a short time then moved to a farm near Allison where they lived for 18 years, returning to Waverly in 1970. Duane was self-employed in farming, also working for the City of Waverly Electric Plant. For the past nine years he had been a resident of Rt. 1, Allison.
Duane served in the U.S. Army as a tank driver during World War II. He was a member of the Allison Amvets and the Shell Rock American Legion.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Kathleen) Ubben of Allison; three grandchildren, Melissa Ubben, Michael Ubben and Matthew Ubben, at home. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his wife in 1971.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 in Clarksville with Rev. Roy Hjelmaas officiating. Burial was in Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville.
