Frank E. Beran

Frank E. Beran, 100, of Ord died Dec. 18, 1995 at the Valley County Nursing Home. Funeral services are Thurs., Dec. 21 at the Our Lady of perpetual Help Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Beran was born March 22, 1895 in Valley County to Joe and Veronica (Petska) Beran. He lived on the family farm near the Geranium Church west of Ord. He attended rural schools. Later he lived with his aunt and uncle, Barbara and John Kokes. On June 24, 1919 he married Martha Karty at Elyria. They farmed and ranched in Greeley and Valley Counties. After the death of his wife in 1949, Mr. Beran moved to Ord where he bought Karty Hardware. After he retired in 1971 he helped his son, Frank, on the ranch. He entered the Valley County Nursing Home in 1990. Mr. Beran was a longtime member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his sons, Dick Beran of Ord, Frank Beran of Sargent, Roland Beran of Crofton and Don Beran of Minneapolis, Kansas; a daughter, Alice Rogers of Ord; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Pokraka of Ord.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Vernon Beran and an infant son; four brothers and one sister.
