Anna Julia Zuraw North Charleroi Anna Julia Zuraw, 93 of North Charleroi, died peacefully, Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Consulate Health Care Center, following a lengthy illness. She was born September 29, 1917 in Charleroi, a daughter of the late Wasyl and Julia Gall Zuraw. Ms. Zuraw was a member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of Charleroi her entire life, she sang in the Choir as a young person. Ms. Zuraw worked at the Corning Glass Works, Charleroi Plant for 40 years. While there and after retiring, she baked bread every week, often distributing loaves to friends and neighbors. Her beautiful and delicious cookies became a tradition at all family gatherings. In addition to baking, Ms. Zuraw spent many hours knitting, crocheting and working cross-stitch. Her afghans, pictures and samplers are the legacy she leaves. Surviving are her youngest brother, Vic Zuraw and wife Maggie of Washington; sister Jane Wheeler of Orlando, FL; three nephews Pete Zuraw and wife Zandra of Natick, Mass., Mike Zuraw and wife Elizabeth of Lancaster and Bruce wheeler and wife Cindy of Enterprise, FL; three nieces Vicki Lesure and husband Kim of Cave, Ariz., Patti Mitchell and husband Jamie of Orlando, FL., and Julie Zuraw of Brooklyn, NY; three grandnephews Calvin and Quinn Zuraw of Natick, Chase Mitchell of Orlando, FL; two grandnieces Luca Zuraw of Brooklyn, NY., Brandy Mitchell of Orlando, FL; two cousins Paul Dudick of Belle Vernon and Sandy Zuraw of McMurray; and a sister-in-law Mary Zuraw of Speers Hill. She also leaves three special friends Lois Hawe, Helen Andreas and Debbie Consavage. In addition to her parents Ms. Zuraw is preceded in death by three brothers Nick, walter and Pete Zuraw, a sister Olga and a niece Cathy Zuraw. Friends will be received Monday, June 6th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Burial will be in Charleroi Cemetery. In lieu of flowers anyone wishing to memorialize Anna Zuraw may send contributions to the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Charleroi.
