Raymond served as a Second Lieutenant & Pilot of Spitfire VbT ER306, Detachment of Student Fighter Training Center, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

Raymond died in the "Line Of Duty" when his Spitfire crashed during training in Algiers during the war.

Lieut. Raymond M. Koch

A bombardier in the Army Air Corps during World War II, Lieut. Raymond M. Koch will be reburied in Glenwood Cemetery. Silver Creek after funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday at the W. L. Froehley Funeral Home, 84 Lake St., Hamburg. The Rev. W. S. Brownlee, minister of the Lakeside Presbyterian Chapel, Wanakah, will officiate. The Hamburg American Legion Post will provide the color guard.

Lieut. Koch was killed in Algiers, April 5, 1944. He was born July 5, 1921, at Arkwright, later moving to Farnham. Before entering service in 1942 he was employed at Curtiss-Wright Corp.

Surviving are his father, Harry E. Koch, Wanakah, and five brothers, Harrison of Blasdell, Newton of Erie, Pa., Chester of Kenmore, Howard of Bemus Point and Franklin Koch, Salamanca.
