Mrs. Muhs was born in 1927 in Scott County, Iowa, to Rudolph and Alice (Lueders) Mumm. She married Walter Claussen in 1945 in Davenport. He died December 2, 1977. She later married Norman Muhs in 1980 in Nashua, Iowa. He died May 4, 2001. She had worked at the Rock Island Arsenal during World War II and Iowa Mutual Insurance Company of DeWitt for 40 years, retiring in 1987. She served as the Town Clerk for McCausland for 30 years. Memberships include American Legion Auxiliary, Eldridge; Eldridge Phytian Sisters; Eldridge Sportsmen Club and Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge. Lois enjoyed dancing, gardening, embroidering and crocheting.
Survivors include her sisters, Emogene Nelson, DeWitt; Shirley Hahn, Chippewa Falls, Wis.; Darlene Pieper, Whitewater, Wis.; and brothers, Wayne Mumm, Davenport, and Richard Mumm, Long Grove. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; sisters, Delores Lineburg and Doris Ann Nickles; and brothers, Norman Mumm and Eugene Mumm.
