Elma Lurline Sortor, 87, of Whitestown,died Monday, October 15 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. Elma was born July 30, 1925 in rural Boone County where she was reared and educated. She married Donald M. Sortor Sr., he preceded her in death. Elma worked in concessions for the Whitestown Auction and cleaned homes in the Zionsville area for many years before going to work as a Deli Clerk for Marsh Supermarket for over twelve years. Elma enjoyed baking, cooking, quilting, playing cards, especially euchre, and spending time with her family and friends. Her memberships included Whitestown United Methodist Church for over 65 years, Boone County Home Economics Club, Worth Township Fire Department Auxiliary American Legion Post 410 Auxiliary, United methodist women, and the Order of the Eastern Star-Zionsville Chapter. She is survived by grandchildren Samuel (Charles "Grant" Rummel) Sortor of Whitestown, Emily L. Sortor of Anderson and Alecia (Anthony) Spencer of Whitestown; great-grandchildren Daniel C. Creech, Sean C. Creech, Donovan Sharp, Julianna Sharp, Emily Spencer and Craig Spencer; great-great grandchildren Tanner Creech and Graison Creech; sister Faye Owens and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Isaac and Mertie (Shirley) Wilson; son Donald M. Sortor, Jr.; daughter-in-law Bevel Sue Sortor; great-grandson Michael Ryan Creech and brothers Lester Wilson, Chester Wilson and Emery Wilson. Family and friends will gather on Thursday, October 18 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Funeral service will be on Friday, October 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the Whitestown United Methodist Church, 206 S. Main Street, Whitestown.
