Randall "Randy" Heinz
Randall P. "Randy" Heinz, 55, of Rushville, passed away at 12:12 A.M. Monday, November 20, 2006 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born on January 12, 1951, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of the late Gilbert and Ruth (Cook) Heinz. He first married Karel Million on May 29, 1971. He later married Penny Kostich on December 21, 1991 in Rushville and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons Zach Heinz and wife Christina of Aurora and Jacob Heinz and fiancée Karen of Montgomery, step son Mike Kostich of Las Vegas, Nevada and stepdaughter Jaclyn Kostich of Darien, three grandchildren Nick Fletcher, Bailee Heinz and McKenna Heinz, special family friend Staci Strub of Phoenix, Arizona, five brothers Mike Heinz and wife Deni, Rolly Heinz and wife Kate all of Rushville, Vince Heinz and wife Pam of Frederick and Rick Heinz and wife Becky of Las Vegas, Nevada and Gilbert Heinz, Jr. of Decatur, four sisters Joyce and Danny Baggott of Peoria, Lorrie Brownfield and husband Ed of Manito, Cherie Heinz of Galesburg, Marnie Eskridge and husband Brian of Canton father-in-law George Villies and wife Kathy of Greece and mother-in-law Angela Tziazaras of Greece, brothers-in-law Pete Villies and wife Mary of Orland Park and Bill Villies of Chicago and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Eleanor Heinz and Uncle Morris Heinz
A 1969 graduate of Brimfield High School, Randy served as Torpedo man 3rd Class Petty Officer in the US Navy, during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1974. He was a general manager for Victor Dana Corporation in Havana from 1974 until 1989. He was transferred to Chicago in 1980. In March 2001 he began as truck driver for DOT Foods in Mt. Sterling.
He was a member of the Rushville Moose Lodge # 506, the Alligator Club and a former member of the Schuyler American Legion Post #4. He loved the game of golf and on most weekends could be found out on the golf course. He traveled the world, from Europe to Australia, Canada to Mexico and 49 US states. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Randy lived a full life and touched everyone who knew him. He had a big heart and always looked for the good in people. He will be truly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Rushville with Father Marcel Kaberwa as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery with military rites by Peoria Burial Detail of the United State Navy and the Schuyler American Legion Post # 4. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials may be given to the Rushville Community Chest.
