August Zander Sr., 93 the oldest
resident of our neighboring village
of Barton died at his home there
at 3:20 am Sunday, June 11, after
he had been ailing for some time.
Death was attributed to the com-
plications produced by advanced
age.
Deceased was born in Germany
on March 9, 1840. Here he married
in 1860 and came to this country in
1885,settling in the Oconomowoc where
he spent the greater part of his
years. His first wife pre-deceased
him and his second wife, the for-
mer Miss Augusta Metz, preceded
him in death about 35 years ago.
After being in Oconomowoc for 15
years Mr. Zander went to Keno-
sha where he resided with a daugh-
ter for several years. Five years ago
he came to Barton to make his home
with his son. He is survived by one
daughter Mrs. Anna Hansman of
Racine, two sons, Gustav of Chica-
go and August Jr. of Barton, one
step-son Frank Zander of Texas,
six grandchildren and four great
grandchildren.
Interment was in LaBelle Cemetery
at Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
