Finnish physician and writer. His father worked as a priest in Russia, and became a student in Helsinki in 1866, Master of Arts in 1869 and Licentiate of Medicine in 1873 after having defended the thesis Contribution to the knowledge of the septic Mykosen in man. In 1881 he became a consultant at Finnish battalion. He became chief of the Finnish army in 1895 and was the Director General of the Medical Board 1902-06. He was truly minister in 1903 and knighted in 1904 with the name von Wahlberg. As a Guard participated in the Russo-Turkish War 1877-78, which he described in From a härfärd in Turkey (1877-1878).
