I began researching my Foster family in 1981 with a letter to the state of Iowa regarding my great grandparents and their children. My father had forgotten names and I had only photos and a name of an aunt (Junelle Foster Robinson) to go by. It took a few stabs in the dark to find the Ezekiel Family and I've been hooked ever since. Now the Internet makes it so much easier.

I have found information on the Foster Family that dates at the least back to 1638 when Reginald Foster immigrated to America from England. A genealogy published by Franklin Pearce shows the family dates back to the early 800s in England. A family castle, Bamburgh, was identified in Northumberland, given to Sr. Forster in the 1500s for valor in battle. The castle was lost due to bankruptcy, but has since been restored by a distant relative Lord Crewe and the Armstrong Family. It is a museum and backdrop for many films.

My grandfather, John Wesley Foster, a son of Ezekiel and Elizabeth, came west on horseback in 1883 to Yakima Valley in Washington State. He had 10 children and was married twice. My father was his last child, born in 1920.
