Bio

I enjoy doing genealogy on all four branches of my family and that of my husband's main branch.
I am currently doing research on:
Rolczynski - Polish; Came from Pozen, Poland and settled in the Dakota Territory which is now Minto, Walsh County, North Dakota;
Durkin - Irish; Came from Ireland to Canada and after my Great-Grandparents, Patrick Durkin and Anna Kelly; were married in 1881 in Frontenac, Ontario, Canada and they had their first child John Dominick Durkin in 1882 abd the 2nd child was born in the Dakota Territory. They farmed near the Red River near a small town of Ardoch, Walsh County, ND. This area is still here in North Dakota just north of Grand Forks, ND;
Lien - Norway;The original family name was Spangrudlien and they farmed near Ringebu, Oppland , Norway. They were connected to the Ringebu Church in the Gudbrandsdalen Valley. They came over and settled first in Minnesota on the Wisconsin boarder and some later moved to North Dakota (Adams, Walsh County, North Dakota, South Dakota (Watertown area) while others went to Wisconsin. I how have Lien relatives all over the United States and still have contact with those still in Norway.
Trygg - Sweden; My Great-Grandfather was in the Army in Sweden. I have his discharge paperwork because he kept it in his wallet until his death and my Grandmother kept it until I got interested in this Genealogy stuff. I have not gotten back to Sweden cause of a name change. When my Great-grandfather joined the Army there were too many individuals with the last name Gustafson(Meaning son of Gustaf), The military gave him the last name of Trygg to use, and he choose to keep it.
Shafer - Possibly German, but I haven't got out of the Southern States. Most resent family is from Northwestern Florida north of Pensacola) and Alabama which touches Florida.
Now back to me, my mother passed away a few years ago and my father let me have a box of obit's and my Grandma Lien's journal. These obits were connected to family, and friends where my parents grew up which was Inkster, Grand Forks County, North Dakota. The other batch were Connected to National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE)Chapters here in North Dakota. When I found this site, I decided I had to share these with others who may be looking for information. I have found this site to be an enormous help to me and by adding stuff to this site, I have the faith I am sharing what I have for others to enjoy.
