Hello! I started here looking for possible ancestors of mine. While researching my ancestors I found quite a few emigrating to the U. S., especially Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan and Ohio - both my mum's and my dad's ancestors here from Germany.

I also like to look at cemeteries and take pictures randomly. I usually post them here, so I have created several memorials of people I don't know. If anyone has a problem with one of those memorials, because it's close family, please contact me. I can always delete it again or transfer the memorial management to you. You can also always write to me in German, if it's easier for you.

For requests on German Cemeteries please keep in mind that graves are not perpetual. After a certain period of repose (20 - 25 years for earth burials and 10 years for urn burials) the graves are being leveled and reused. There is no toxic embalming being done in Germany, so the coffin and the corpse can decompose naturally. If the family of the deceased decides to purchase another period, the duration can be extended by another 20 years. Otherwise the grave will be leveled and reused, the marker than used as gravel in road construction. War Graves are considered memorials and are kept up by the owner of the cemetery. Those are kept forever. Also the town or owner of the cemetery might find a grave of historical significance and will protect and keep it.

Hallo!
