The cemetery was maintained by a Cemetery Association until the early 1950's, when the Association disbanded and ownership was transferred to the City of Fox Lake. At that time, the name of the cemetery was changed from Waushara Cemetery to Riverside Memorial Park.
There are over 2500 known burials as of March 2022. There are about 60 "rumored" additional burials that are in the process of being researched and confirmed. Over 270 confirmed Veterans have been laid to rest here, from the War of 1812 to the present day.
A transcription was compiled in 1981 by J & M Quella. In the Summer of 2017, an updated transcription was compiled by Melissa Massey-Peltier (aka mmel on Findagrave). An organized map (available in the photos for this cemetery) is color-coded to help locate burials, and a matching color-coded database produced and maintained by Ms. Massey-Peltier to keep the information up-to-date. This database is available only to the City of Fox Lake Clerk and Fox Lake Public Library staff.
Researchers with questions can get assistance at the Fox Lake Public Library, located just up Center Street from the Cemetery. The staff has access to the database to assist researchers in finding burials. The Library also houses the Harriet O'Connell Historical Room, which is a large privately-owned collection of local historical items and documents. Researchers will need to make an appointment with the Library Director to access these holdings.
