Located on the east side of SE Mallard Lane off SE Mockingbird Drive... This is an odd graveyard. Located in a trailer park next to a picnic table you will find 3 grave markers with one leaning up against a tree. Lawn depressions appear to be evidence that there were many more graves here at one time. It is suspected that a number of the stone markers may lay under the grass that has been turned into a park area.

The Walla Walla County Poor Farm Cemetery was established here in 1891. Deceased Poor Farm residents along with unclaimed remains from the Walla Walla County Coroner's office were buried here in rows running north to south. The graves were marked with small concrete cylinders bearing only a number. Upright markers were later placed on several of the graves by family members. Family and friends could find the name and grave location of persons buried here by consulting records maintained at the county courthouse, which were lost but have recently been discovered.
After the Poor Farm had long been closed and the cemetery had fallen into disuse, in 1973 when the adjoining land was developed upright markers were removed, the concrete cylinders were covered with soil, grass was planted over them, and playground equipment was installed on top of the graves, footings for which are still here.
The cemetery is currently owned by the City of College Place, and is protected by Washington's Historic Cemeteries and Graves Act.
