Located on part of what is a main thoroughfare in the southwest part of the City (also known as Provincial Highway 12) as it transitions into the Municipality of Plum Coulee, about 325 yards (300 m) west of the junction with 15th Street, and adjacent to the Westridge Memorial Gardens.
A network of roadways provides vehicular access to the grounds.
As of 2023/09, the City provides a downloadable list of burials produced on May 26, 2021, on its website.

Established in 1885 and owned and managed by the City of Winkler, the cemetery contains a broad cross-section of former residents of the area and beyond.

The cemetery includes some stones which were taken from the Haskett Village Cemetery and, as far as is known, the remains are still at Haskett.
Also, in Section E, Row 13, there is a special plaque that reads "In memory of God's children who have died prematurely; whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me"

Though owned and operated by the City of Winkler, the cemetery is outside its jurisdictional boundaries being situated in the adjoining and surrounding Rural Municipality of Stanley
A part of the town's story and those of its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1982 is told in the volume "A History of Winkler, A History of the Town of Winkler, Manitoba - 1892-1973", and in the related volume entitled "Winkler: A Proud Heritage".

There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
