► Johannisfriedhof (defunct, now city park)
► Friedhof der Heimatvertriebenen
The Donatsfriedhof, also known as Friedhof Sankt Donat or Pestfriedhof. is one of several burial grounds in the city of Freiberg in Sachsen (Saxony) Germany. On its grounds is also the city's crematory (Entrance Am Ostbahnhof).
The old name of "Pestfriedhof" dates back to the plague (German: Pest) of the 15th century, when the dead were buried far outside the city's walls, first mentioned in 1430. In 1588 by order of Duke Heinrich von Sachsen the cemetery was improved with some landscaping and subdivision into sections, and parcels. During the 30-year-war (1618-1648) severely damaged and neglected the cemetery was re-established by the late 17th century, and received a wall surrounding the entire graveyard. An addition was created in 1838 (Neuer Donatsfriedhof) and combined with the old part in 1872. Now a wall goes around the entire cemetery.
Other burial grounds in Freiberg are:
► Dom Sankt Marien
