Today I have finally hit on more definitive information about the land owned by my 4th Great Grandfather, Moses Cornell. I have found the actual court petition to partition his land among his heirs. Also, I have found where Samuel Deweese and his wife Rachel CORNELL Deweese held the land from about 1842 until they sold it to Fielding Langley and his wife Susanah CORNELL Langley on 10 July 1849. Susanah and her husband then sold the 80 acres on 20 July 1849 allowing them to disperse the funds to all family members listed in the original court order to partition the land. While doing the research, I found that in the final sale of the land from Susanah CORNELL and Fielding L. Langley to Antony Berting shown in the first 8 lines of the document on page 610, they set aside the North East corner of the land for a burying ground. Based on this information, I was able to locate a possible site at 40.41467601129666, -84.38175323113896, 1.5 miles from Minster, Ohio. Attached is a map showing this land and possible burial site located within West 1/2, SE 1/4 Section 22, Township 7 South, Range 4E. I have contacted the Minster Historical Society, Minster, OH which has their office 1.6 miles from this potential burial site, asking them to take a look at this location for any signs of burials. I have been working with the Minster Historical Society, Minster, OH since I first found this information. The Society assigned a member to coordinate with me and the land owner. It has been determined that this area identified by my research in fact had human remains contained within it. The farmer recalled that years ago, they were plowing and dug up remains. At that point, they left this area and decided not to cultivate this area any longer. They had always thought that it was an Indian burial ground. Since this area has been left uncultivated for many years is why there are trees there now. The Society member walked the ground, but did not find any indications of a burial or marker. So, the bottom line is that I can assume with some sense of accuracy that this is the burial location of Moses Cornell my 4th Great Grandfather and possibly his wife and others. The Society inquired whether I intended to place a burial marker at this site and said that the farmer had no problems with that being done.
