Kingsland , Shirley (nee Hoffmann) passed away peacefully on May 16, 2011. She was born November 12, 1918 in Jacksonville, IL to John Hoffman and Zella Daub. Beloved wife of the late Norman Rowlinson and the late Dr. Robert C. Kingsland ; cherished mother of John (Geri) Rowlinson of Phoenix, AZ and Bob (Bev) Rowlinson of Kirkwood, MO; loving step-mother of Nancy (Jed) Maebius of San Antonio, TX, Tom (Jackie) Kingsland of San Antonio, TX and Ann (Bill) Lincoln of Bend, Oregon. Proud grandmother of Wendi (Wes) Sparling, Robyn (Kevin) Harper, Jennifer (Todd) Johnson, Amanda (Matt) Messerly, Stephen (Maria) Maebius, Elizabeth (Tom) Brady, Brian (Justine) Maebius, Andrew (Clayton) Maebius, Lynn (Derek) Mugford, Michael Lincoln, Jeffrey (Renee) Kingsland and Kellie (Nat) Player and the great-grandmother of thirty-one. Shirley continued to pursue her education and finished with a degree from Washington University in 1969. Her professional career included many accomplishments including President of the Women's Division of the Real Estate League of St. Louis and a founding member of the former Clayton Club for Women. Shirley's greatest love and passion was the special times she shared with family and cherished friends she made while enjoying tennis, bridge, painting, music and a thirst for life-long learning. Her up-beat personality and encouraging nature were infectious to all. She loved to entertain and was a very gracious hostess making everyone feel welcome. She especially relished the many parties given for Dr. Kingland's international medical students from Deaconess Hospital. We will all miss her warm smile and the twinkle in her eye. Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 12 at Kirkwood United Methodist Church, 201 W. Adams, Kirkwood, MO 63122 at 12:30 p.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kirkwood United Methodist Church.
