Mrs. Dorothy H. Goodson passed away Monday, January 20, 2003. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 23, at Wornall Road Baptist Church, 400 W. Meyer Blvd.; burial in Fairview Cemetery, Liberty, MO. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial gifts in her honor may be made to Wornall Road Baptist Church Foundation, 400 W. Meyer Blvd., KC, MO 64113; Baptist Medical Center Foundation, 6601 Rockhill Rd., KC, MO 64131; or Clay County Museum and Historical Society, 14 N. Main, Liberty, MO 64068.
Mrs. Goodson was born November 25, 1914, in Columbia, MO, where her father was a professor of German at the University of Missouri. In 1936, she received her A. B. degree with distinction from the University of Missouri and, in 1938, she earned her A. M. degree. she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She married Louis H. Goodson on February 14, 1940, and he preceded her in death. She moved to Kansas City in 1944, where her husband worked as a chemist at Midwest Research Institute for 34 years. She was a member of Wornall Road Baptist Church, where she served on the Council of Deacons, acted as a church moderator for eight years, was past president of Baptist Women, and was a member of the Directors of Corporation. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Friends of Art at Nelson-Atkins Museum, and a life member of the Clay County Museum and Historical Society. She was a member and past president of the Baptist Medical Center Auxiliary, a weekly volunteer at Baptist Medical Center, a member of Baptist Health Systems Board of Trustees, Baptist Health System's representative of Kansas City Hospice, Inc., a member of the Institutional Review Board of Baptist Medical Center, and a member of the University of Missouri Alumni Association. Survivors include three daughters and seven grand children and five great-grandchildren.
