Leen stopped on September 15, 1981 after almost 40 years his dairy (zuivelhandel) and grocery business in Ameide, consisting of a shop at his home at Fransestraat, Ameide, a warehouse and a street trading van/bus (SRV-wagen). The business was run by the whole family: Leen self, his wife Bep and their two daughters Toos and Cok. Leen started the dairy business with a carrier bike. Before this he was during nine years a farmer's hand, after leaving school in 1934. His father kept dairy cows and sold the milk with a dog cart.
